Ferme Claudius...
Sitting right on the Combe Noire ski run, Ferme Claudius enjoys a secluded location at an altitude of 1,100 m, absolutely perfect for enjoying skiing and nature in the Espace Diamant.
This renovated farmhouse full of traditional character is less than 2km from Praz-sur-Arly, a charming mountain village in the Val d'Arly. It’s also located just 5km from Megève and 6km from Flumet.
In winter, skiers have direct access to the four downhill pistes that pass close to the chalet, as well as the 192km of slopes in the Espace Diamant and the 100km in the Portes du Mont-Blanc ski areas. During school holidays, a local ski lift opens, giving guests ski-in, ski-out access. Outside of the holidays, ski out remains an option.
In summer, a small lake in Praz-sur-Arly, which can be seen from the chalet, is the ideal place to swim or relax, with water games, an adventure park and a restaurant. Lake Flumet (7km away) has a playground, a skatepark, a multi-sport ground and a café.
Praz-sur-Arly has all the shops and services you will need during your stay, including several supermarkets, equipment hire shops, bars and restaurants.
About the property…
Ferme Claudius is a traditional two-storey building that has been completely renovated to provide spacious accommodation for 10 guests, including 6 adults. There are four bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom.
The ground floor is home to the sleeping area. Here you will find three double bedrooms and a bunk room perfect for four children. Each of these bedrooms has its own shower room with a toilet. This floor also includes a charming television room opening onto the terrace, where you’ll find the hot tub.
The upper floor is where you'll find the living area, which boasts high ceilings and elements of the old framework. There's a cosy seating area with a sofa and armchairs around the TV and a wood-burning stove. Two steps lead to the large dining table, and you will find a second table on a covered terrace, where you can enjoy meals in the warmer weather. The fully equipped kitchen has a large refrigerator, an induction hob and a countertop with a third table. Finally, a cosy little room with a comfortable sofa serves as a television room.
On the practical side, la Ferme Claudius has a ski room with heated boot dryers and a laundry room with a washing machine, tumble dryer and sink on the ground floor, as well as six outdoor parking spaces.
About the area…
Praz-sur-Arly is a welcoming mountain village between Megève and Flumet, offering panoramic views of Mont Blanc. With its local shops and traditional chalets, it appeals to visitors who want to avoid the crowds in the bigger resorts. Its location means you can enjoy all the action of the surroundings before returning to the peace and quiet of this typically Savoyard village.
In winter, Praz-sur-Arly provides easy access to the Espace Diamant ski area, which offers 192km of slopes across six resorts, including Les Saisies, Crest-Voland and Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe. During school holidays, a local ski lift opens, giving guests ski-in, ski-out access. The village is also close to the Portes du Mont-Blanc ski area, offering even more opportunities for winter sports. Snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, sledging, skijoring and dog sledding are just some of the activities on offer.
During the rest of the year, visitors flock to Praz-sur-Arly for its lush green landscapes ideal for hiking and mountain biking. The Arly River and surrounding mountain pastures offer magnificent views, while a lake in Praz and another one in Flumet (6km away) are ideal for swimming and summer activities. Please Note
The chalet is at an altitude of 1,100 m and is accessible ski-in/ski-out via the Téléski des Varins. This lift is open only during the winter school holidays (Christmas, New Year, and the four weeks of February holidays) and subject to snow conditions.
Please note that when the Téléski des Varins is open, the last 200m of road leading to the chalet is closed during slope opening hours (9am to 5:30pm). A small parking area is available just before the barriers at the entrance to the slopes.
If the Téléski des Varins is closed, guests have two options:
Either park at the Télésiège Crêt du Midi parking lot (1.8km away, about a 5-minute drive),
or take the Téléski Combe Noire to go back up. There is then 300m of slope or 600m of road to reach the chalet.
The owner requires a €1,000 damage and excess cleaning guarantee to be set up before arrival. No funds are taken or blocked on your card. Your card details are securely held for up to 14 days after departure. If no charge is required, they will be deleted.

The OVO Network Review
Ferme Claudius is a traditional building that has been renovated to provide all modern comforts. Its history can be seen in its spacious rooms, its preserved beams, and even its location at the foot of the slopes.
Upstairs, space and light fill the room under the beamed roof, embracing several living areas. You can gather around the wood-burning stove in the lounge, at the large dining tables inside, or on the covered terrace.
There's room to sit at the kitchen counter or at a second table, where you can plan your days or keep the cooks company.
Two television areas offer spaces for games and relaxation.
The four bedrooms, each with a private shower room, mean there's no need to get under each other's feet. The bunk room will appeal to younger guests, who will instantly make it their own.
The outside hot tub is the perfect place to relax and admire the views of the Val d'Arly.

Our farmhouse dates back to 1788, and was built from logs known locally as “costes” It's right at the top of the Combe Noire slope, where the very first ski lift in Praz-sur-Arly was installed at the beginning of World War II: the “Combe Noire” rope tow.
My grandparents, Claudius and Germaine, lived in this place, which is steeped in history. I grew up learning about their stories, their memories and the love they had for this building...
A carpenter and joiner by trade, I spent five years dismantling, cleaning, sanding, redesigning and reassembling each piece of the building, with the help of Belgian architect and designer Lionel Jadot. I'm very grateful for his valuable advice and input.
Together, we sought to preserve the soul and authenticity of this old farmhouse, while adding the warmth and comfort of a cosy home.
Today, the farmhouse can accommodate up to 10 guests. Surrounded by nature, it offers breathtaking views of the village and the Aravis mountain range, and is the perfect place to gather with family or friends.
In winter, you will be able to ski straight from the farm to the slopes of Praz-sur-Arly and the Espace Diamant. In summer, the house is surrounded by lush greenery, perfect for relaxation, with numerous hiking trails nearby.
This “refuge” is very dear to our hearts. My partner Catherine and I wanted to breathe new life into it with passion and respect for what it represents.
We took great pleasure in restoring it so that it could continue to thrive and welcome those who, like us, appreciate the mountains and beautiful things.
